Daniel M. Arbuckle, 82, Moran, passed away Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Allen County Hospital.

He was born March 11, 1930 at Iola, the son of Stuart V. and Inez M. (Jackson) Arbuckle. Dan grew up in the Iola area and graduated from Iola High School. H served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.

On Jan. 30, 1954, Dan married Wanda Jo Skinner at Tunica, Miss. They had four children. She died Aug. 2, 1989.

Following his time in the service, Dan returned to the Iola area before living in Chicago and California, returning to Kansas in 1964. He worked in area oilfields, for Tech American Resources for over 20 years and then for himself as an independent contractor to area producers. 

Dan enjoyed woodworking, building clocks and knickknacks for family and friends. He was a member of the American Legion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, a daughter, Peggy Gath on Oct. 5, 2009, a sister, Donna Kay Womelsdorf, and an infant brother, L.D.

He is survived by his companion, Marjorie Klimek; three sons, Bob and his wife, Marilyn, Colony, and Danny and his wife, Arlene, and Kenny and his wife, Sandy, Iola; eight grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Moran. Burial will follow in Moran Cemetery. Dan will lie in state from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Heart Association.
