Donald Lee Isaac, 96, of Lake-view Village in Lenexa, passed away on March 26, 2017.  He was born May 5, 1920, to Clifford and Anna (Manbeck) Isaac at the family farm in Moran. He graduated from Allen County Community College in Iola, Class of 1941. He joined the U.S. Navy during World War II and served 40 months attached to VR-5 Air Transport Squadron in the Aleutian Islands and VR-13 Aircraft in the South Pacific Islands. 
For a few years before and after his service, he worked for the KATY Railroad as a telegraph operator and had very lively memories of his work. 
He was a longtime resident of Kansas City, Kan., moving there in 1947 to begin working for the Kansas Department of Human Resources in the unemployment insurance division for 35 years, retiring in 1982. After retirement he volunteered at Providence Medical Center for 15 years. He was a member of the former Grandview United Methodist Church in Kansas City, the Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Wyandotte Lodge No. 3 since 1949 and a life member of Bethel Memorial VFW Post No. 5851.  
Donald was preceded in death by his first wife of 51 years, Mary Irene Isaac in 2000. He is survived by his daughter, Nancy L. Powell, Kansas City, Mo., and his granddaughter, Nicole L. Powell, Berkeley, Calif., and several nieces and nephews. His second wife, Betty Quinn Isaac, also of Lakeview Village, preceded him in death in 2010.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m.,Tuesday, at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 701 N. 94th St., Kansas City, Kan.
