Donald Lee Mohler, 77, Humboldt, died Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015, at his home.
Don was born Dec. 30, 1937, in Enid, Okla., the son of Edward and Virgie (Bowyer) Mohler. He grew up in Oklahoma and the family moved to Iola when he was in high school. He graduated from Iola High School and Iola Junior College.
On June 3, 1956, Don married Darlene Mardick. They made their home in Iola. They had three daughters and later divorced. On Feb. 9, 1978, Don married Bernie (Carson) Andrews and they have made their home in Humboldt for 34 years.
Don worked in the oil industry for more than 30 years, he owned the Mobile station in Iola, and prior to retirement he worked as the physical plant supervisor for the SRS facility in Chanute.
He began his Masonic affiliation in June 1961 at Iola Lodge No. 38. He served as Master in Iola in 1968, 1980 and 2000. Don became a member of the Scottish Rite, Valley of Fort Scott in April 1974 and is a lifetime member. Don joined Mirza Shrine in May 1974. Currently he is a member of Tri County Shrine Club, Chanute Shrine Club, Past Master Club and Kick-Off Club. He belonged to the Mirza Ritualistic Cast, Mirza MG Unit, Mirza Director’s Staff, Legion of Honor, Hospital Dads and Camel Herders. He served as Potentate in 2010. Don is also a member of Sunflower Lodge No. 147 O.E.S., Tula Teocali No. 5, Order of Quetzalcoatl and Court No. 95 of the Royal Order of Jesters.
He has been a member of Iola Elks Lodge No. 569 for 47 years. He served five years on the City Council for Humboldt.
His wife, Bernie Mohler, survives, as do three daughters, Kim LaPorte and husband Bill, Moran, Becky Helms and husband Richard, Iola, and Kristi Reed and husband Torrin, Wichita; two stepsons, Don Andrews Jr. and Joe Andrews and wife Jean, all of Gas; a sister, Deloris Williams, Salisbury, N.C.; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandson, Kent Jackson.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum and Friskel Chapel in Iola. Burial will follow at Elsmore Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday the funeral home.
