Evelyn Rose (Neuenswander) Bunnel, age 96, of Colony, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 15, 2019. She was born Jan. 29, 1923, in Cassoday, Kansas, to Reverend Irvin and Bethany (Swartz) Neuenswander, the third of 12 children. 

On Nov. 25, 1943, she married Ralph E. Bunnel, and they made their home in or near Colony since that time. They were founding members of Colony Community Church in 1957 where she was actively involved for many years. She also enjoyed her years of service with the area Christian Women’s Club.

Evelyn is survived by three sons and eight daughters: George of Oskaloosa, Ed (Tausa) of Colony, John (Heather) of San Juan Capistrano, Calif., Jane Ives of Tulsa, Okla., Beth (Dave) Benware of Keller, Texas, Ann (Herb) Hornstra of Coburg, Ore., Carol (Hal) Hall of Anchorage, Alaska, Marty (Jack) Golden of Conway, Ark., Susan (Rick) Brown of Garland, Texas, Kathy (Gary) Allen of Springfield, Mo., and Patty (Mick) Leibold of Tulsa, Okla.; 28 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  She is also survived by two brothers, Bill (Anita) Neuenswander and Dan (Connie) Neuenswander; two sisters Betty Bidinger and Ruth Farrell and many extended family members and friends. 

She was preceded in death on Dec. 15, 2017, by her loving husband of 74 years, Ralph; her parents; two brothers, Paul and John Neuenswander; and five sisters, Nancy Ann Neuenswander, Helen Neuenswander, Jean Bubna, Elizabeth Compton, and Emily Grundy.

A funeral service will be at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Iola, at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 27. Burial will follow in the Colony Cemetery. The family will greet friends at the Colony Community Church from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday evening, April 26, 2019.
