Iva Eileen Harner, 91, Humboldt, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012, at Chanute HealthCare after a short illness. She was born on Aug. 21, 1921. She was the daughter of Edward and Anna (Friederich) Breiner.
She married Merle Harner on May 4, 1939, in Chanute. He preceded her in death on Nov. 26, 1980.
Iva was a lifelong resident of Humboldt and a retired employee of H.K. Porter in Chanute. She was a seamstress, homemaker, and member of the Farmers’ Wives Club.
She is survived by one son, Edward Harner; and four daughters, Darlene Paul and husband Richard, Betty Harral, Carolyn Rowden and husband Paul, and Mary Clevenger; one brother, Orville Breiner and wife Joyce; one sister, Norma Maring; and 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two grandchildren, and one son-in-law, Jim Harral.
Mass of Christian burial was at 11 a.m. today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Humboldt. Interment will follow in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
She was in-state on Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at Penwell-Gabel Humboldt Chapel.
Memorials may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church and left with the funeral home.
