James Graham “Jim” Miller, 80, of rural Iola died Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at Allen County Hospital in Iola.
He was born Feb. 3, 1930, in Iola, to Milow D. and Ethel (Graham) Miller. He grew up in Greenwood County near Virgil and Lamont where his father worked the oil fields. He graduated from Lamont High School and attended Emporia State University before serving in the Eighth Army Division during the Korean War.
On Oct. 17, 1953, he married Marilyn B. Miller in Emporia. They made their home and farmed southwest of Iola.
He was a member of the American Legion in Chanute.
He is survived by his wife of the home and two daughters, Nancy Overacker, Shawnee, and Cheryl Miller, Hutchinson.
Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday  at the funeral home. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate. Burial will be in No. Eight Cemetery east of Madison.
