Josephine B. “Jo” Turley, 90, Iola, passed away Thursday, Feb. 4, 2016, at her home.
Jo was born Nov. 19, 1925, in Iola, the daughter of Fredrick and Blanche (Shockey) Vogel. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1943. She married Charles W. Turley and they later divorced. She enjoyed working the lunch room at Jefferson Elementary School. She also enjoyed softball, bowling, sewing, watching sports and doing yard work. She was a member of First Christian Church in Iola.
Survivors include her three children, Christina VanWinkle, Topeka, Jill Turley, Iola, and C.J. Turley, Carl Junction, Mo.; three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Cremation has taken place and the family will have a celebration of life service at a later date. Memorials are suggested to the Allen County Animal Rescue Facility (ACARF) and may be left with Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, who assisted the family.
