Larry A. Calahan, 63, of Iola died Saturday, March 12, 2011, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1948, on a farm near Colony, to Rex and Tena (Runnells) Calahan. He graduated from Kincaid High School in 1966 and served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War.
He worked as an area general manager for Pizza Hut for several years.
On Jan. 5, 1977, he married Ila Caudell. They made their home in Iola. He then worked for Consolidated Oil Services before becoming a self-employed carpenter.
He enjoyed fishing and scuba diving.
He is survived by three daughters, Atonya Close and her husband, Rex Jr., Iola, Wendy Williamson, Moran, and Cierra Mock, Iola; his parents, Rex and Tena Calahan, Iola; three brothers, Bob and his wife, Debbie, Ottawa, Darrel and his wife, Diane, Colony, and Doug, Denver, Colo.; a sister, Nancy Henderson and her husband, Hank Smotherman, Olathe; four grandchildren, Tori and Mason Snavely and Wyatt and Khole Williamson.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Cremation will follow the visitation and there will be a private family inurnment in Lone Elm Cemetery.
