Lawrence F. Tidd, 78, formerly of rural Moran, died Wednesday, March 21, 2012, at Catholic Care Center in Bel Aire.

Lawrence was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Neosho Falls, the son of Frank and Elizabeth (Diebolt) Tidd.

On Jan. 31, 1955, Lawrence married Mary E. Boles at the First Methodist Church parsonage in Iola by the Rev. E.E. Tillotson.

He farmed in the Neosho Falls area. He also trucked and operated his own ready-mix concrete business. In 1976, he and his wife purchased a farm southwest of Moran. They farmed until 2010 when they retired and moved to Bel Aire to be near their daughter.

He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Berta Ayers and her husband, Dennis Ward, Bel Aire; a granddaughter, Kandie Weeks, Fort Worth, Texas; two brothers, Richard and his wife, Opal, and Frankie, both of the Neosho Falls area; two sisters, Meribeth Weise and her husband, Larry, Las Vegas, Nev., and Bertha Hackett and her husband, Joe, Hoyt; a sister-in-law, Lillie Tidd, rural Iola; a brother-in-law, Floyd Chriestenson, Mineral Wells, Texas; and nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Howard, rural Iola, a sister, Arlene Chriestenson, Mineral Wells, a daughter, Joylynn Jeannie Lewis, Wichita, and a niece, Shirley (Tidd) Snavely, rural Iola.

Family and friends will meet at 1 p.m. Monday at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola for visitation before leaving for the LaHarpe Cemetery for graveside services at 2 p.m.
