Arline B. “Leanie” Nusbaum, 76, of Iola died Monday, Feb. 8, 2010, at Chanute Healthcare Center.
She was born June 25, 1933, in Owatonna, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Sophia (Malakowsky) Kilmer. She grew up in Owatonna and graduated from high school there in 1951.
On June 2, 1951, she married David E. Nusbaum in Owatonna. They moved to Kansas in 1952 and made their home in several communities following his career with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a homemaker until working as a home health nurse for Mt. Carmel Hospital when they lived in Pittsburg. He retired and they moved to Iola in 1988. He died Nov. 29, 2000.
She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and doing yard work.
She is survived by five sons, David R. and his wife, Elizabeth, Bel Air, Md., Kenneth and his wife, Gail, Iola, Brennen, Nevada, Mo., Tom, Borden, Ind., and Joe and his wife, Paula, Pittsburg; four daughters, Barbara Collins and her husband, Gary, Iola, Mary Robertson, Lawrence, Patty Ramey and her husband, Terry, Wooster, Ohio, and Janet Murray and her husband, Bill, DeSoto; a sister, Ila Jones, Austin, Minn.; 23 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
A brother, Al Kilmer, died earlier.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Grace Lutheran Church in Iola. The Rev. Bruce Kristalyn will officiate. Burial will be in Gas City Cemetery. Visitation will be an hour prior to the service at the church.
