Lola M. Richwine, longtime resident of Stark and the rural Savonburg area, died early Thursday morning, March 8, 2012, at Prairie Mission Retirement Village in St. Paul. She had lived there the past five years.
She was born March 26, 1919, in rural Moran, to Edward and Lora (Gimlin) Manbeck. She grew up in the rural Moran area.
She married Leon Richwine on Aug. 26, 1937. They first lived in Stark and then for many years farmed in the rural Savonburg area. He died on Nov. 17, 1983, and in 1984 she moved into Stark.
For about 10 years she was employed by Jensen’s Egg Plant in Chanute. From 1966 to 1972 she operated Richwine’s Grocery in Stark. She was a member of Stark United Methodist Church and earlier for many years was a member of Porterville United Methodist Church. She was a former member of Savonburg Order of Eastern Star. Her hobby was quilting.
She is survived by two sons, Kelly and his wife, Pat, Grove, Okla., and Don and his wife, Nancy, Stark; six grandchildren, David Richwine, Olathe, Todd Richwine, Tulsa, Okla., Brad Richwine, Tucson, Ariz., Julie Cannon, Annapolis, Md., Jennifer Layton, Leavenworth, and Jim Holman , Rochester, N.Y.; and six great-grandchildren.
Besides her husband she was preceded in death by four brothers, Everett, Robert, John and Ed Manbeck, and two sisters, Lucille Manbeck and Velma McVey.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Mount Moriah Cemetery, north of Stark.
Friends may sign the register at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home in St. Paul from 1 to 7 p.m. Sunday, where the family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m.
