Malvin B. Steele, 83, Humboldt, died Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at Wesley Medical Center in Wichita.
Malvin was born Feb. 25, 1931 in the Bird City, Neb., area. He served in the U.S. Navy. In 1972, he married Charlene M. Holton, and they moved to Iola in 1973 from Concordia. He worked at I.M.P. Boats in Iola. Charlene preceded him in death in 1989.
He was a member of the Iola Elks Lodge.
He is survived by two sons, Jerry Steele and fiancé Stacy Thouvenell, Chanute, and Malvin Junior “Bud” Steele, Nebraska; his companion, Betty Yoho; three grandchildren and 12 stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Timothy Steele.
The family will receive friends tonight from 7 to 8 o’clock at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola.
Inurnment will be in the Nelson Cemetery southeast of Concordia at a later date.
