After going head-to-head in an extra-inning pitcher’s duel during the regional semifinals, Humboldt pitcher Logan Page and Iola pitcher Grady Dougherty will face off once more at Wednesday’s Kansas Baseball Coaches Association All-star game in Wichita.
Following their recent selections to the 3A Kansas High School Activities Association All-State Baseball First Team earlier this month, Page and Dougherty will compete in an all-star game spanning all six classes of Kansas athletics.
Dougherty will take the field as a member of the Powder Blue team after ending the regular season with a 6-0 record with 75 strikeouts and allowing just 24 walks in more than 62 innings on the mound and a 1.22 ERA.
Dougherty was equally impressive in the batter’s box while boasting a .324 batting average on 24 hits, 14 doubles, three home runs and 32 RBIs.
Page will be a member of the Navy Blue team after ending the season in Manhattan as the Cubs’ starter in the state quarterfinals, where he posted five strikeouts and an RBI in a 10-3 victory over Russell-Victoria.
Page ended the year with a 6-2 record while tallying 94 strikeouts and boasting an ERA of 1.392.
He also ended the season with a .376 batting average with 32 hits, 15 doubles, a triple and 35 RBIs.
