Pauline Perez, 96, of Humboldt died Monday, Jan. 16, 2012, at Allen County Hospital in Iola after becoming ill at her home.
Pauline was born June 20, 1915, in Neodesha, the daughter of Augustine and Calletana (Alonzo) Gutierrez.
She married Felix Perez on Dec. 31, 1932, in Chanute. He preceded her in death in 1996.
Pauline was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Humboldt.
She was an avid cook, a strong advocate for animals and dearly loved her family, the Kansas City Royals and University of Kansas basketball.
Pauline is survived by her three children, Lupe, Juanita (Jennie) Donnelly and Polo, all of Humboldt; a sister, Inez Dela Cruz, Iola; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and foster grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, and a son, Raymond, four brothers, Bill, Andy, Phillip and Rosario Gutierrez, and one sister, Vadista Mendoza.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Humboldt.
