Richard Wayne “Ricky” Jones, 20, of Iola died Sunday, Sept. 12, 2010, the result of a truck accident.
He was born May 2, 1990, at Anderson County Hospital in Garnett, the son of Kenneth and Debbie (Kratzberg) Jones. He grew up in Iola. He attended Iola elementary schools and transferred to Marmaton Valley in Moran his eighth grade year. He graduated from Marmaton Valley High School in 2008.
He enjoyed football and softball, fishing, hunting and going to the races at Humboldt Speedway. His favorite pastimes were spending time with his fiancee, Michelle, and with friends, and watching the Kansas City Chiefs, Royals and Kansas State University ball games. He also had two dogs, Ralph and Reece, which he enjoyed.
He was employed by Diebolt Lumber & Supply in LaHarpe and worked part-time at Madison Avenue Steaks and Chops.
He is survived by his fiancee, Michelle Sollars, and their unborn child due Jan. 29, 2011; his parents, Kenneth and Debbie Jones, Iola; brothers, Thomas, Brian and his wife, LaDonna, and Kevin, all of Iola; sisters, Crystal Jones, Iola, Laurie Hegwald and her husband, Jason, Humboldt, Tracy Jones and her husband, Dustin O’Connor, Ottawa, and Melissa Beal and her husband, Shannon, Bonner Springs; seven nephews and five nieces; a grandmother, Elsie Kratzberg, Greeley; and several aunts, uncles and cousins.
His grandfathers, Nick Kratzberg and James Jones, and a grandmother, Loretta Jones, died earlier. A sister, Becky Jones, died in December 2004.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Burial will follow in St. Boniface Cemetery in Scipio.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home in Garnett.
