Sharon Leach

Sharon Leigh Leach, 73, Burlington, died Thursday, Dec. 29, 2016, at Coffey County Hospital.
Sharon was born on Feb. 18, 1943, in Iola, to Ellis and Mabel L. Oliver Henson.
On May 8, 1962, she married James Paul Leach in Iola. James preceded her in death on Dec. 4, 2014.
Sharon grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1961. She received her bachelor’s degree in speech and drama from Pittsburg State University in 1978. She later received her master’s degree. She taught school at Erie Junior High School. She retired in 1988.
She and James had lived in Iola, Erie, Cherokee, Okla., and Atchison, before moving to Burlington in 2002.
Sharon was a member of the Iola United Methodist Church, and the Extension Club in Burlington.
Sharon is survived by her sons, Randy (Jennifer) Leach, Mound City, and Rob (Lisa) Leach, Andover; her daughters, Ricki (Paul) Bober, Shelly (Mike) Thorp and Sherry (Shane) Fejfar, all of Burlington; a brother, Bob Henson, Herman, Mo.; 18 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Burlington United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Jones Funeral Home, Burlington. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. Contributions may be made to the United Methodist Church or the Burlington Animal Shelter, and may be sent in care of Jones Funeral Home, P.O. Box 277, Burlington, KS 66839.
