Sundra (Riebel) Meitler, 54 of Sylvan Grove, died Sunday, April 24, 2011.
She was born Oct. 26, 1956, in Oroville, Calif., to Edward and Eleanor Riebel. She grew up in Iola and graduated from Iola High School in 1974. She graduated from Allen County Community Junior College in 1976 and Emporia State University in 1978. She moved to Sylvan Grove and took a teaching job.
In June 1979, she married Kenneth L. Meitler. She was a member of the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Lincoln. She was teaching English, computer lab and was in charge of the Sylvan Grove High School yearbook at the time of her death. She taught in Sylvan Grove for 32 years.
She was a great cook who loved her family. She was dedicated to her job as a teacher and worked hard on the yearbook. She could always be seen at events with her camera in hand.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Meitler, Sylvan Grove; a son, Jared and his wife, Beka, Manhattan; a daughter, Kendra Meitler, Lawrence; her parents, Edward and Eleanor Riebel, and four brothers, Lloyd Riebel, Danny Riebel and his wife, Marta, Mike Riebel and his wife, Julie, and Stanley Riebel and his wife, Kim, all of Iola; and a sister, Pam Wilson and her husband, Clifford, Overland Park.
Funeral services were April 28 in Sylvan Grove Cemetery.
