Visitation for Clarence C. Turner of Iola, whose death on Wednesday was reported in Thursday’s Register, will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel in Iola.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Humboldt High School. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery in Iola.
He was born March 30, 1925, in Union Star, Mo., to John H. and Opal Ellen (Shores) Turner. The family moved from Union Star to Enid, Okla. when he was 6. He lived in Enid until he was inducted into the U.S. Army in 1944 during World War II. He received an honorable discharge from the service in 1946.
On Oct. 21, 1946, he married Dorotha E. Heisler at the Allen County Courthouse. They made their home on a farm northwest of Iola near Geneva. She died Dec. 8, 2007.
At a young age he received the gospel when it came to his family and was true to that choice until the end of his life.
He is survived by three daughters, Rosalee Erickson and her husband, Charlie, Fridley, Minn., Nancy Beecham and her husband, Brad, Fort Collins, Colo., and Betty Rike and her husband, Ed, Woden, Iowa; a daughter-in-law, Lois Sanders and her husband, Ken, Iola; a special friend, Eula Eggers, Humboldt; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A son, Darrell Ray, and an infant grandson, Jason Erickson, died earlier.
