The Lincoln Food Mart is under new ownership. Mrs. Walter Hartman purchased the store from A.R. Looker on Aug. 20. She is being as­sisted by A.W. Anderson, retired Iola grocer, and Mrs. O.W. Griffin. Mrs. Hartman helped Anderson when he owned the Anderson Gro­cery.

Members of the Allen County Medical Society gave inoculations against diph­theria, tetanus and whoop­ing cough to 2,265 Allen County children, the larg­est project of its type in the county’s history according to Ralph Trout, elementary school supervisor. The clin­ics were in Humboldt High School and Iola’s three el­ementary schools. The next public immunization pro­gram will be for the Salk (po­lio) vaccine.

St. Peter’s Lutheran Church of Humboldt will hold a ground-breaking cer­emony Sunday for a new $190,000 edifice at the corner of Tenth and Amos Street.

The Humboldt Brick and Tile Company and Humboldt National Bank are holding an open house Sunday after­noon inviting the public to inspect their new quarters. The Brick and Tile Compa­ny’s new office building is on the northeast corner of the quare. Humboldt National Bank has just finished an extensive inside and outside remodeling project.

Iola now has 283 boys en­rolled in scouting, the larg­est number in the town’s history, according to Ray Airingdale, Independence, chief scout executive for the Sekan Area Council. The club is starting its annual financial solicitation for the Boy Scouts in the business district today. The average cost per boy is $10 per year.
