The Lincoln Food Mart is under new ownership. Mrs. Walter Hartman purchased the store from A.R. Looker on Aug. 20. She is being assisted by A.W. Anderson, retired Iola grocer, and Mrs. O.W. Griffin. Mrs. Hartman helped Anderson when he owned the Anderson Grocery.

Members of the Allen County Medical Society gave inoculations against diphtheria, tetanus and whooping cough to 2,265 Allen County children, the largest project of its type in the countys history according to Ralph Trout, elementary school supervisor. The clinics were in Humboldt High School and Iolas three elementary schools. The next public immunization program will be for the Salk (polio) vaccine.

St. Peters Lutheran Church of Humboldt will hold a ground-breaking ceremony Sunday for a new $190,000 edifice at the corner of Tenth and Amos Street.

The Humboldt Brick and Tile Company and Humboldt National Bank are holding an open house Sunday afternoon inviting the public to inspect their new quarters. The Brick and Tile Companys new office building is on the northeast corner of the quare. Humboldt National Bank has just finished an extensive inside and outside remodeling project.

Iola now has 283 boys enrolled in scouting, the largest number in the towns history, according to Ray Airingdale, Independence, chief scout executive for the Sekan Area Council. The club is starting its annual financial solicitation for the Boy Scouts in the business district today. The average cost per boy is $10 per year.
