Letter to the editor — November 30, 2011

Dear Editor,

I would like to comment on recent events. Unemployment, health care, the deficit and others pale to our most precious asset — our children.
A very smart person once said, and I paraphrase, A society can be judged by the way it treats its children. We are failing.
As yet another year approaches, too many a child is scared, hungry, lonely, neglected, abused or all the above. Where does it stop? It stops with us.
Take a few minutes and go to You Tube and click on Pat Benatar’s “Hell is for Children.”
The words speak volumes.

Respectfully,
Michael Decker,
Iola, Kan.
