The Red Devil men ended the regular season with a win on Saturday when rival Neosho County came to town.
Allen beat the Panthers 97-86 and the Red Devil sophomores, who were celebrated before the game, scored 82 of their 97 points.
The win moves them to 16-14 overall.
Neosho jumped out to an early 17 point lead in the first half but a switch to zone by Allen in the final minutes got the Panthers out of rhythm and allowed the Red Devils to cut the lead to five at the half.
It didnt take long in the second half for Allen to use that momentum to take the lead but they soon gave it up as both teams went back and forth throughout the half before the Red Devils made a push around the four-minute mark to extend the lead to double-digits.
Things got chippy late in the game and several technical fouls were given out and Neosho head coach Jeremy Coobs was ejected with under a minute to play.
Down the stretch, the Red Devils hit their free throws which allowed them to come away with a win.
Fittingly and unsurprisingly, Allen was led by sophomore star Perry Carroll who had 31 including 19 free throws, seven assists and five rebounds.
Sophomore Darius Love had 22 on 10/17 shooting along with six rebounds and six assists and sophomore Jamaal Clifton had 10 points, four rebounds and two blocked shots. Sophomores Wesley Anderson Jr. and Jacobia Platt had eight and seven each.
The wins guarantee a winning season for the Red Devils. They now head into the Region VI Tournament on Wednesday where they will play a Hutchinson team thats receiving votes in the NJCAA poll. The Blue Dragons beat Allen at home 102-86 back on Jan. 5.
Allen women
The Lady Devils lost their final regular season game of the year at home to Neosho in a back-and-forth game that ended with the Lady Panthers leaving with an 89-79 win.
The loss moves the Allen women to 3-27 overall. Theyve lost 13-straight.
Neosho came out with their press to start things out but the Lady Devils did not allow it to affect them and took a 16-15 lead after a quarter.
In the second quarter, things became more physical and chippy. Sophomore Alecia Verge was ejected from the game after retaliating against a Neosho player who threw multiple elbows at her earlier.
In response to the ejection and the Neosho player going unpunished, head coach Rachel Janzen received a technical leading the Lady Panthers shooting four-straight free throws and only making one.
The Lady Devils really took hold of the momentum after that and headed into halftime up 37-34.
That lead grew to eight with under six minutes to play. The Lady Devils, who had just one sub, really started to fatigue and Neosho would take their first lead with three minutes to play.
