ACC softball season starts season with two losses

Allen Community College’s softball team began the season with two losses Saturday to Barton.
In game one of the doubleheader, Allen got off to a 4-0 lead after the third inning. But, Barton stormed back into the game with a three-run fourth. Allen answered in the fifth with a three-run inning of their own and extended the lead to 7-3.
Barton then outscored ACC 6-0 in the last two innings to get the 9-7 win.
The Red Devils had five errors compared to Barton’s one. Baileigh Rager gave up all nine runs, only four of which were earned. She had five strikeouts and three walks.
Cassidy Reynolds led the team with three hits, including a double, and had an RBI. Emmy McManigal hit two singles and led the team with three RBIs. Alana Renshaw, Shelby Maycumber and Ashley Womack each had a hit.
Allen lost game two, 10-4. Barton took a 10-2 lead into the seventh inning before the Red Devils put two more runs on the board in the final frame.
Womack led the team with a home run and two RBIs. Kayle Riebel had a single and an RBI. Reynolds, Tristyn Delgado and Amber Searles each had a single.
Allen (0-2) heads to Fort Worth, Texas, for the Cowtown Classic Friday and Saturday.
