ACC softball sweeps doubleheader, baseball splits

Allen Community College’s softball team picked up two wins against Northern Iowa Area CC Sunday.
In game one, Allen won 8-0.
The second-inning was big.
The Red Devils six-run inning helped ACC pick up the win. It was highlighted by a three-run homer by Baileigh Rager. Cheyanne Daniels also had an RBI-double in the frame.
Overall, Allen totaled 10 hits. Rager went 3-for-3, including the homer and four RBIs. Daniels had two hits and two RBIs. Cassidy Reynolds, Tristyn Delgado, Alana Renshaw, Justine Dougan and Erika King each had a single.
Rager also tossed five scoreless innings, giving up three hits and striking out five.
In the second game, Allen won 7-3. Another big second inning helped propel the Red Devils — this time four runs.
Reynolds started the scoring with an RBI-double. Rager followed with an RBI-Single. Ashley Womack cleared the bases with a two-run homer.
Delgado, King and Jordan Barber each had a single.
Erin Perley picked up with win, pitching 4 2/3 innings. She gave up the three runs and also struck out three. Rager came in to close the game out for the final 2 1/3 innings.
ACC (3-6) plays a doubleheader at Highland Tuesday.

ALLEN’S BASEBALL team split a doubleheader at Coffeyville on Saturday. The Red Devils lost the first game 8-6 and won the second game 12-1. Statistics were not made available.
Allen hosts Coffeyville for a scheduled makeup doubleheader today at 1 p.m. The Red Devils were supposed to play a doubleheader against Evangel JV on Tuesday, but have canceled them. Instead, they will play Cowley in a rescheduled doubleheader starting at 2 p.m.
