MOUND CITY — Athletes from Marmaton Valley, Crest, Yates Center and Southern Coffey County high schools racked up plenty of hardware Thursday at the Three Rivers League Meet.
Crest’s Hanna Schmidt was a two-time gold medalist, winning in both the 100-meter dash and the 100-meter hurdles on the girls side.
She was joined in the victory column by teammates Josie Walter, winner in the girls 1600-meter run; and Peyton Schmidt, winner of the 3200-meter run.
Speaking of two-time winners, Marmaton Valley’s Dagan Barney led a banner day for he Wildcat field events by taking gold in both the discus and shot put throws, while Marmaton Valley senior Brayden Lawson took home the victory in the javelin.
Marmaton Valley’s Jaedon Granere was golden in the boys’ high jump, while
Piper Barney led the way in the girls triple jump.
Marmaton Valley, Crest and Southern Coffey County will be in Iola Thursday for the Class 1A Regional Meet, hosted by Waverly. Yates Center heads to Eureka for the Class 2A Regionals.
