Blu-Jays beat Wildcats

MORAN — Pleasanton Junior High’s Blu-Jays held off Marmaton Valley Junior High’s Wildcats for an 18-16 win Thursday.
Marmaton Valley led 8-6 after the first quarter. Trent Johnson threw an 11-yard scoring pass to Seth Swaggerty. The Wildcats tacked on the two-point conversion.
Pleasanton scored two touchdowns in the second quarter to lead 18-8. Marmaton Valley’s Shaun Frey had a 51-yard touchdown run in the third quarter. The Cats added the two points.
They couldn’t come up with another score before the end of the game.
Frye finished with 64 yards on seven carries. Swaggerty had 31 yards on seven carries. Johnson threw for 35 yards.
Defensively, Johnson had 11 tackles and Frey had 10. Colton Alexander and Gage Adams each had five tackles.
Johnson, Swaggerty, Adams and Dane Myers each recovered a fumble for the Wildcats. Chad Starliper forced a fumble.
