BURLINGTON — Yates Center High’s Wildcats did not hit a shot in the final five minutes of Friday’s Tri-Valley League contest against Burlington High’s Wildcats.
Yates Center was within striking distance — one to three points — until then. Burlington won 60-44.
“We were flat early then fought back then nothing at the end,” said Jason Weilert, YCHS head coach.
Dalton Smith scored 19 points and Paul Stockebrand had seven rebounds.
Yates Center is 8-4 overall and 5-2 in TVL play. It opens the second round of league play at Eureka Tuesday.
Burlington won the girls’ varsity game 50-18. No report came in to The Register.
