High School Softball: Lady Mustangs 14, Lady Lancers 1
LEON After picking up their first ever regional win Monday, the Crest Lady Lancers saw their inaugural season come to a close as they ran headlong into one-seed and eventual regional runner-up Flinthills in the 2-1A regional tournament in Leon.
The Lady Lancers fell to Lady Mustangs, 14-1, in five innings.
Flinthills scored seven runs in the first and added three more in the second, one in the third and a final three in the fourth to push their lead to 14-0 before Crest got its first hit of the game to score their only run in the top of the fifth. The Lady Lancers avoided the shutout but did not avoid the run-rule.
Senior Makayla Jones took the loss in the start, allowing 14 runs on 10 hits.
Freshman Aubrey Holloran had the only hit for the Lady Lancers.
Crest returns all but two seniors (Jones and Lexi Golener) next year as head coach Casey Cook and the Lady Lancers will look to continue to improve heading into year two of the program.
