Crest, MV squads split in jr. high action

COLONY — Crest Middle School’s boys A team opened an early lead against Marmaton Valley Junior High Monday and held an 11-point margin with three minutes left.
The Wildcats rallied but could get no closer than the final three-point deficit, 27-24.
Leading Crest were Carter Messenger with 16 points, Austin Hendrix with five, Gage Adams with four and Caleb Stephens with two.
Trevor Wilson scored eight points for the Wildcats, followed by Justice Pugh with seven. Ethan Tavarez scored four. Korbin Smith and Jake Kale had two points each. Brock Hall scored a point.
In B team action, Crest led briefly, 2-0, before the Wildcats responded with 20 unanswered points in a 22-2 win.
For Marmaton Valley, Korbin Smith scored six points, Ethan Tavarez five, and Brock Hall and Kiefer Endicott four points each for Marmaton Valley. Derek Nixon added a point.
Tavyn Springston scored Crest’s two points.
