Crest tops St. Paul, Central Heights

The Crest High School Lady Lancer volleyball team gave themselves a bit of breathing room in the Three Rivers League after picking up a pair of wins during Tuesday's sweep of their home opener against St. Paul and Central Heights.

COLONY — The Crest Lady Lancers picked up a pair of wins while opening their season with a sweep of Central Heights and St. Paul.

Jumping right into league play in their home opener, the Lady Lancers put a bit of early distance between themselves and the Central Heights Vikings and the St. Paul Indians in the Three Rivers League standings.

The St. Paul Indians did not make it easy for the Lady Lancers. After Crest jumped out to an early lead with a 25-23 victory in the opener, St. Paul responded with a 25-23 second set only for Crest to take the third and the match 25-21.

Central Heights was not as formidable as St. Paul and fell in a pair of consecutive 25-16 and 25-22. With
the wins, the Lady Lancers improved to 2-0. They put their undefeated record on the line next 5 p.m. Tuesday when they take on Burlingame.
