OSAWATOMIE — The rains subsided and skies cleared, allowing Humboldt High’s softball and baseball teams to return to action Friday, with doubleheaders at Osawatomie.
Neither Cub squad had much difficulty in bringing home victories.
The Lady Cub softball troupe rolled to 11-0 and 9-0 victories.
In baseball, Humboldt picked up 13-3 and 16-0 victories.
Humboldt’s Kirstyn Murrow had a monster game in the opener, pounding out a home run and three singles, stealing five bases, scoring three times and driving in two.
The Lady Cubs broke open a 1-0 lead with an eight run second before ending the game with two more runs in the fifth.
Murrow was far from the only hitting star. Karley Wools singled and tripled, stole two bases, scored twice and had an RBI. Brooklyn Ellis singled, while also pitching the distance, allowing five hits with four strikeouts.
Shelby Shaughnessy had two singles, three stolen bases, two RBIs and a run. Laken Hunter had a single, a stolen base and a run. Chloe Daniels had a single, stolen base, RBI and run.
Morgan Sterling drove in a run. Anna Heisler scored once.
Shelby Shaughnessy picked up the baton from there in the nightcap, allowing one hit over seven innings, with eight strikeouts.
It was another balanced attack offensively as well.
Murrow singled, doubled, stole a base and scored once.
Wools had three hits, including a double, stole two bases, scored twice and had an RBI. Ellis stole a base and scored once.
Emily Ross finished a triple short of the cycle with a single, double and home run, four RBIs and a run. Shaughnessy aided her own cause with a double and home run, two RBIs and two runs. Carsyn Haviland singled and stole a base. Laken Hunter had a single, double, stolen base and run. Sterling singled and drove in a run. Hesiler scored once.

The softball team improved to 15-3 with the sweep. The baseball Cubs stand at 17-1.
