HUMBOLDT — Annalise Whitcomb has known for some time that she would continue her volleyball career and education at Fort Scott Community College next year.
On Tuesday, the Cubs’ standout had the opportunity to literally cross the T’s and dot the I’s.
At noon at Humboldt High School, Whitcomb took part in a ceremony to sign with the Greyhounds.
Whitcomb ended her volleyball career with a bang this season, by guiding the Lady Cubs to their first state tournament appearance since the 1980’s.
“I am excited that Annalise gets to continue her volleyball career at the next level,” Humboldt coach Terry Meadows said. “She has worked hard for this opportunity and I feel that she will fit in nicely at Fort Scott.”
The setter led the team with 719 assists and 81 aces.
She also had 105 kills and 136 digs.
The Greyhounds finished last season with a 27-11 record and are looking to replace their top setter Mickey Trimble, who had 1,467 assists last season.
Whitcomb will join former Marmaton Valley star MacKenzie Tynon as local products on the Greyhounds’ roster.
