HUMBOLDT Cubs, Lady Cubs, and their families gathered inside the auditorium at Humboldt High Monday night for their annual fall sports banquet. The event provided an avenue for coaches to reflect on the fall season, and honor athletes for their accomplishments.
The cross country team was the first to take the stage. It was a fantastic season for the Cubs on the course, as both the boys and girls were crowned Tri Valley League Champions.
The girls cross country team was the first Lady Cub group to not only win the league, but reach state.
For the boys, Drew Wilhite reached state as an individual by finishing sixth at Humboldts region meet.
In volleyball, the Lady Cubs finished as sub-state runners-up after being eliminated by Burlington in the championship game. Earning All-Tri Valley League honors were Jessica Myers and Emma Johnson. Alayna Johnson picked up an honorable mention.
Emma and Alayna Johnson were also given plaques for making their mark in HHS volleyball history. Emma set the mark for the most digs in a career with 550, and Alayna for making assists with 1,737.
Humboldts football team capped off the afternoon as Logan Wyrick summed up his 10-1 2A sectional runners-up season. Wyrick took the time to give a rundown on each players accomplishments or outlook. Most notably was quarterback Conor Haviland, who rushed for 2,436 yards and 40 touchdowns while averaging 17.2 yards per attempt.
With the fall season officially over, Humboldts winter sports have less than two weeks before the competition officially begins.
