NEODESHA — The Yates Center and Humboldt golf teams braved a wet course in the Neodesha Invitational and still finished with three top-five golfers between the two squads.
Humboldt sophomore Ryan Sellman finished second overall with a 78 — six strokes behind Fredonia’s Devin Voth.
Yates Center’s Remi Wagner and Reece Solander led the Wildcats to a second-place finish as a team in the seven-team tournament.
Fredonia won the tournament.
Wagner and Solander each shot an 84 to tie for fourth place.
Senior Jon Barnes shot a 109 to take 23rd overall while James Hess shot 127 to take 36th place.
“All four boys were not terribly happy with their scores, but with the course conditions, I think we played pretty well,” Yates Center coach Kevin Barnes said.
In addition to Sellman, Humboldt brought Roni Bulk and Reid Smith to the tournament.
Smith shot a 120 and Bulk shot a 132.
