OSAWATOMIE — It was the story of two very different games for the Iola Fillies in Osawatomie on Tuesday, but both contests ended with the most important box checked: a win.
The first game was a 9-1 blowout victory for the Fillies. Pitcher Sierra Snavely controlled the game from the pitcher’s circle and the Trojans were unable to mount any offense until they finally scored in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The second game was a different story for the freshman.
Snavely and the Fillies fell behind 12-6 at the end of three innings of play,
Osawatomie’s 10-run third inning pushed them out to the huge lead.
Snavely buckled down for the rest of the game from then on and didn’t allow a Trojan batter to score.
The offense finally broke through in the eighth inning as they posted an eight-run inning and rallied for the 14-12 win.
IOLA’s JUNIOR varsity picked up two wins on Tuesday as they topped Osawatomie including a game two blowout victory of 22-4.
