High School Softball: Iola Fillies
After earning second-team all-Pioneer League honors earlier last month, sophomore outfielder Nissa Fountain was named second team all-state in class 4A-II from the Kansas Softball Coaches Association on Friday.
Fountain had a .491 batting average in her 20 games played this season for the Fillies. Fountain recorded 27 hits at 55 at-bats and scored 20 runs and 18 RBIs.
She had seven doubles, a triple and two home runs. She also touted a .562 on-base percentage with eight walks.
Fountain returns to lead a young and talented Fillies softball team who struggled for a lot of the 2018 season but had several positive moments before ending their season in the opening round of the regional tournament.
