Allen Community College’s men dropped another heartbreaker Saturday.

For the second time in six games, a last-second 3-pointer from ACC’s opponent did in the Red Devils.

Colby’s Anthony Marshall drove the court, then put up the clinching trey with 3.1 seconds left, giving the Trojans a 70-67 victory.

Allen’s half-court shot at the buzzer was off the mark, dropping the Red Devils to 3-3 on the season and 2-2 in Jayhawk Conference play.

Colby also prevailed, 72-49, in the women’s contest.

Allen led by as many as nine in the second half before Colby started hitting from the outside to chip away at the lead.

The Trojans were up by two in the final minute when Allen’s Freddie Word got off a clean look from the 3-point line. The shot missed, but Amadou Traore put in the offensive rebound to tie the score with 10 seconds remaining.

Traore led the Red Devils with 16 points and nine rebounds. Shaikim Jenks and Ed Wright II followed with 13 apiece. Word scored 12. Jenks had four assists and three steals.

Ahmad Johnson paced Colby with 19.

It marked the second heartbreaking loss for Allen at home. They opened the season in nearly identical fashion, falling 70-67 to Labette.

IN THE women’s contest, Colby clamped down in the second quarter, turning a 16-13 advantage to a 32-16 halftime lead. The run continued in the third period as Colby stretched the margin to 56-31.

Addison Towe came off the bench to lead Allen with 12 points, while Raya Tally had nine and Hallie Reed scored eight points with six rebounds. Caleah Oliver had three assists.

Allen strugglied mightily from the free throw line, hitting only 6 of 24 attempts, and committed 26 turnovers.

Individual statistics for Colby’s women were unavailable.

The Red Devil squads are back in action Wednesday at home against Dodge City.
