Iola Special Olympians showed off their basketball skills at a competition Tuesday at Pittsburg. The students brought home several top finishes during the day.

PITTSBURG — Iola’s Special Olympics team members were at the Pittsburg YMCA Tuesday for a basketball skills showcase event.

The local athletes fared well, with several top finishes.

Individual results:

Kobear Smith: second place individual skills and second place speed dribble.

A busy spring sports season lies ahead for the Special Olympians as well, with competitions scheduled for April 19 in Pittsburg and May 6 in Erie.
