After their season-opening meet at Central Heights got canceled due to weather, the Humboldt track and field team decided to compete in a meet that combined opponents from Central Heights meet, Lyndons meet, and the Emporia State Invitational to all compete at one big split meet on Tuesday.
In the small school division, the Lady Cubs took second overall while the Cub boys took third.
Sprinter Savanna Puckett took first in the 200 (29.03) and second in the 100 (13.74) while Jailynn Goforth got a chance to compete in an event that isnt normally at Kansas high school meets, the 2000-meter steeplechase.
Goforth finished top of the heap with a time of 12:07.81.
Also finishing first on the girls side was the 4×200 relay team of Kaylie Johnson, Madi White, Zoey Wilson and Puckett (2:01.42).
Johnson also took second in both the long jump (1510) and the triple jump (33) while White took fifth in the 200 (30.93).
Emma Johnson took third in the 1600 with a time of 6:43.23 while her sister Alayna finished third in the javelin (969) and fourth in the discus (876).
Jessica Myers took third in the high jump (43) and fifth in the 400 (1:09.89).
The 4×800 team of Emma Johnson, Wilson, Myers and White took fourth (11:47.67).
Last but not least, Bri Baker finished fourth in the 1600 (7:07.12)
On the boys side, Luke Yokum (8:03.92) and Drake Harrington (8:23.71) each finished first and second respectively in the steeplechase.
Also finishing first overall was the 4×200 relay team of Harrington, Caleb Coronado, Drew Wilhite and Isaiah Coronado (1:41.69).
Tucker Hurst placed top three in three events starting with a second-place showing in the javelin (1435) and third place finish in the shot put (411) and the discus (1223).
Colton Johnson put up a second-place finish in the high jump with a height of 56.
Coronado took third in the 100 (11.93) and Thane Meadows took third in the 110 hurdles (19.44), 300 hurdles (50.30) and took fifth in the triple jump (345.75).
The 4×100 team of Meadows, Harrington, Johnson and Isiah Coronado finished fifth (51.20) and the 4×800 team of Caleb Coronado, Seth Barlow, Wilhite and Isiah Coronado took third (9:03.57).
