IHS strong man event – Competition strong in events

Concluding the summer of weightlifting and conditioning, members of the Iola High football team plus three girls competed in the IHS strong man competition last week.
On Wednesday morning and Thursday evening, the Iola student-athletes competed in nine events at the football stadium in Riverside Park. Those events were tractor tire flip, tire drag with a harness, tire over-hand pull, farmers carry, seated medicine ball throw, over-head medicine ball throw, dumbbell iron cross, weighted bag run and 90-second push ups.
There were three divisions – — women, men’s lightweight (under 160 pounds) and men’s heavyweight (over 169 pounds).  Athletes were awarded points for winning events and placings in events; Here are the results:
Women’s division: Celeste Ambrose, 83 points; Libby Shay, 75 points; Alyssa Zimmerman, 58 points.
Lightweight: Clint Heffern, 79 points; Adam Kauth, 59.5; Jacob Rhoads, 46; Jesse Zimmerman, 37; Devon Conner, 28; Corey Taylor, 15; Kaden Macha, 10.5; Shane  Walden, 5; Cole Morrison, 4.
Heavyweight: Jerrik Sigg, 69 points; Zach Crawford, 45; Stephen McDonald, 38; Eli Grover, 34; Trey Colborn, 27; Devin Culler, 24; Zack Vaughn, 14; Blake Appling, 12; Brad Bazo, 11; Bryce Misenhelter, 6; Mason Coons, 1. Others: Isaiah Grover, Quinton Morrison, Aaron Barclay, Colton Heffern.
