IMS track continues success

CHANUTE — Iola Middle School’s track team continues to shine this season. This time they competed at Royster Middle School. The seventh grade girls earned second place and the eighth-graders placed seventh. The seventh grade boys earned second place and the eighth-graders placed sixth.
Of note, the seventh grade girls’ 4×100-meter relay team again beat their previous mark. Elka Billings, Ella Taylor, Sydni Keagle and Elysia Kunkler finished the race in 56.17 seconds, beating their previous time of 56.93.
The seventh grade boys’ 4x400m relay team beat the school’s previous record set by Greg Hayes, Josh Kristalyn, Jerry Pulley and Keatin Herder in 2003. This year’s group of Asher Sievers, Noah Ashmore, Elijah Fawson and Dan Foust set the mark to 4 minutes and 29.91 seconds, beating 4:35.10.
