Iola High’s JV, freshman teams host Prairie View

The Iola High JV and freshman teams took on Prairie View before the varsity squads closed out the night.
In the JV girls game, the Fillies defeated the Buffalos, 40-34.
Twelve different players scored for Iola to help earn the victory. Katie Bauer was the team’s leading scorer with 7 points, 3 of which came from the free throw line.
Macayla Bycroft and Jadyn Sigg each added 6 points to help the Fillies hold the lead from the opening tip to the final buzzer.
Della Lohman and Madisyn Holloway scored 4 points each. Piper Moore had 3 points. Riley Murry, Colbi Riley, Taelyn Sutterby and Chloe Gardner each scored 2 points. Katelyn Olston and Carley Cescon had 1 point each.
The freshman girls team also won, outscoring Prairie View 18-5 in the two-quarter game.
Madisyn Holloway’s team-leading 5 points matched the offensive output of the entire Buffalos squad. Shaylee Sutterby added 4 points and Piper Moore had 3. Kassy Shelby, Jennifer Tidd and Kendra Sprague closed out the scoring with
2 points each.
Emmie Brant finished the night with 3 rebounds and Ashleigh Nicholas had 2 steals.
In the JV boys game, the Mustangs lost in overtime, 41-37. Braden Plumlee led Iola with 8 points while Evan Sigg was close behind with 7 of his own.
The freshman boys team won, 46-9. Kane Rogers had 12 points, Hunter Preston had 11 and Blake Ashmore had 10.
Iola will return to action on Jan. 5 against Anderson County.
