COFFEYVILLE — Iola Soccer Club’s 14-and-under team beat Coffeyville 10-0 in SEK League (a recreactional soccer league) play on Sunday.
Devon Heffurth scored four goals for Iola and Calob Mock added three. Scoring one goal each were Colby Works, Isiah Shaughnessy and Nolan Jones.
Braden Plumlee and Mason Key combined in goal for the shutout. Each goalie had six saves.
In a 40-minute exhibition game with the same Coffeyville team, Iola’s B-team — mostly players 12 and under — lost 2-0. Ethan Tavarez had six saves as goalkeeper.
The Iola A-team (14-and-under) goes to Columbus this Sunday then plays at home three consecutive weekends. The B-team starts play in the Chanute Recreation League Saturday.
There are 30 kids in the Iola Soccer Club. The teams are coached by Brek Ulrich, Jared Larkey, Brian Plumlee and Josh Larney.
