Lady Cubs place first and second at home tournament

Humboldt volleyball hosted its junior varsity tournament on Monday and came up big twice as the JV team took first overall and the C-Team finished second.
Humboldt’s JV did not lose a set the entire night.
The Lady Cubs started off with a 2-0 win over West Elk (25-13, 25-8).
Emma Johnson led the way with 12 aces and four digs followed by Isabelle Murrow who had seven aces and two assists. Kirsten Roush also had four digs.
Maycie DeNoon, Madi Gean, Jessica Myers and Savanna Puckett each recorded two kills.
Humboldt then took on Cherryvale and won 2-0 (25-18, 25-13).
Gean had team-highs in kills and aces with five kills and eight aces.
Johnson had five digs and three aces and Murrow had five aces and an assist. Bulk had four assists, a kill and an ace.
They rounded the night out with a 2-0 win over their own C-Team, beating their fellow teammates 25-19 and 25-12.
Murrow had eight aces and four assists while Gean and Puckett led the way with four kills each.
Johnson had a team high four digs and Roush had three digs. Johnson and Gean each had four aces.
The C-Team beat Neodesha 2-0 (25-20, 25-19) and Altoona-Midway 2-0 (25-12, 25-19) before taking on the Lady Cubs JV team.
The varsity will host Eureka and Cherryvale today starting at 5 p.m.
