Lady Cubs stay unbeaten at 14-0

HUMBOLDT — Humboldt softball stayed undefeated, sweeping Oswego in a doubleheader Friday.

“We played well against a good Oswego team,” coach Brad Piley said. “Courtney (Richey) and Kaley (Riebel) both had home runs tonight.”

The Lady Cubs won the first game 11-0. 

Courtney Richey pitched five innings, allowing only three hits while striking out 13. She also stepped up at the plate hitting a home run and double, for two RBIs. 

Breanna Kline had a triple and single for three RBIs. Mallory Roush, Kayle Riebel and Morgan Morris had a double. Delaney Umholtz had two base hits, while Jaci Ross, Kasey Beeman and Makaylah McCall each had one.

Humboldt won the second game 6-2.

Richey pitched seven innings, giving up five hits and two runs. She had 10 strikeouts. At the plate, Richey hit a double and had a single.

Morris had a double with two RBIs. Kline had a single, double and triple with an RBI. Riebel had a solo home run. Beeman had three base hits, while Ross had two. Umholtz and Roush each added a base hit. 

Humboldt is now 10-0 in league play and 14-0 overall.
