Lady Lancers lose out in regional play

MELVERN — Crest High’s Lady Lancers bowed out of Kansas Class 1A Regional Basketball Tournament contention Tuesday night.
The Lady Lancers dropped a 56-25 decision to host Marais Des Cygnes Valley High’s Lady Trojans. It was the opening round of regional action.
Crest finished the season at 1-18.
Marais Des Cygnes Valley rolled to a 17-4 advantage in the first quarter. It was 26-9 at halftime.
Kristen Golden led Crest with eight points. The Lady Lancers were 8 of 18 from the free-throw line.
Jamie Rice scored 17 points to lead the Lady Trojans. Emily Rose had 10 points.
Marais Des Cygnes Valley advances to the 1A regional semifinals at Pleasanton High School Friday. The Lady Trojans play top-seeded and 10th-ranked Southern Coffey County at 7:30 p.m.
Hartford dispatched Pleasanton 49-15 Tuesday. Hartford plays second-seeded Waverly at 6 p.m. Friday.
The championship game is 6 p.m. Saturday at PHS. The top two teams advance to 1A substate play next week.
