FORT SCOTT — Marmaton Valley High’s Mercedes Trollope captured first place in the girls’ long jump at Tuesday’s Fort Scott High Junior Varsity Invitational track meet.
Trollope won the event with a leap of 13 feet, 2 inches. She also took second in the triple jump with a distance of 27’111⁄2”. Trollope placed fifth in the 300-meter low hurdles in 1 minutes, 3.79 seconds.
Ashtynn Louk was the silver medalist in the 1600-meter run in 6:23.54 seconds. Rachel Boyd was sixth in the shot put with a throw of 27’2”.
Kaleb Stroud was third in the boys’ shot put with a toss of 39’7”. Lucas Hamlin was fourth in the triple jump at 34’5” and sixth in the long jump at 16’2”.
Marcus Miller placed third in the 1600-meter run in 5:23.04. The 4×100-meter relay team of Miller, Garrett Booth, Seth Cuppy and Ken Thron was fourth in 54.68 seconds.
In field event relays, both 4×100-meter races, the Marmaton Valley’s boys were first in 55.26 and the girls took second in 1:07.29. Running for the boys were Ryan Stephens, Scott Tholen, Stroud and Nicholas Trollope. Running on the girls’ teams were M. Trollope, Louk, Lauren Korte and Hanna Hoffman.
Several races were not contested because the meet was halted because of severe weather.
