Marmaton Valley passes its way to win over Yates Center Friday

MORAN — Marmaton Valley High’s passing game was firing on all cylinders Friday.

Sophomore quarterback Brayden Lawson threw for 332 yards and six touchdowns as MV thumped visiting Yates Center 60-14.

The win evens Marmaton Valley’s record to 1-1 on the  2022 season. Yates Center drops to 0-2.

A pair of underclassmen teamed with Lawson to do much of the damage.

Sophomore Jaedon Granere caught eight passes for 195 yards and four touchdowns, while freshman Tyler Lord added 124 yards on four catches and two scores.

Tack on Lawson’s 116 rushing yards, and you have a dominating offensive performance.

Marmaton Valley led 48-14 at halftime.

Lord also had a nine-yard touchdown run in the victory.

The game ended in the fourth period after Marmaton Valley extended the spread to 46 points.

Statistics for Yates Center were unavailable.

Marmaton Valley travels to Sunrise Christian Academy. Yates Center hosts St. Paul.
