MORAN — Aly Ard had herself a night to remember.
She was hardly alone
The Marmaton Valley High junior hit home runs in three of her five official at bats Monday, scoring six times and leading the way as the Wildcats crushed visiting St. Paul in a pair of 15-0 routs.
Ard went deep on her first at bat to lead off the bottom of the first inning, keying a three-run first inning.
She then pounded the first pitch she saw in the second inning over the left field fence for a two-run shot, making it 5-0.
The Wildcats opened the floodgates in the third inning, with all 12 batters reaching base. The game ended on Gracie Yoho’s RBI single, which opened the spread to 15.
Aly Ard went 3 for 3, with the two home runs and three runs scored. Tayven Sutton tripled and singled twice in her three at bats with three runs scored. Kendall Scharff went 3-for-3 with a run, while Brooklyn Adams singled twice and scored a run. Payton Scharff and Yoho both singled and scored twice, Roslyn Houk singled and scored a run, while both Kayla Ard and Madi Lawson scored once.
Kayla Ard pitched the three-inning shutout, allowing two hits with five strikeouts.
THE HIT parade continued in the second contest, with a twist.
Kendall Scharff drew the pitching nod, and proceeding to retire all nine St. Paul batters she faced for a three-inning perfect game. She did so while throwing only 23 pitches — 20 for strikes — and striking out three. She aided her own cause at the plate by knocking a single and double with a run.
Payton Scharff blasted a home run and a triple with two runs scored, while Aly Ard hit her third home run of the day in the second inning, while adding a double. She walked and scored in her other plate appearance. Kayla Ard doubled twice with two runs. Lawson and Bailey LaRue both singled twice with two runs, Adams and Brown also had singles. Sutton scored twice with a pair of walks.
The Wildcats host Pleasanton Thursday.
