The first step toward the state tournament wasn’t perfect, but the Iola baseball team did what it needed to do in a 4-1 win over Prairie View on Monday in the opening round of the 4A-II Frontenac regional tournament.

The win was the Mustangs’ third over the Buffalos this season after 11-1 and 11-4 wins in LaCygne April 9.

With the win, Iola advances on to face Girard in the regional championship.

“The biggest thing was to win this game and we did that,” Percy said. “We just didn’t look very good doing it.”
