CHEROKEE — Marmaton Valley High’s softball team picked up its fifth and sixth wins in a row Monday.

And much like the other games in their torrid streak, the Wildcats left little room for drama.

Marmaton Valley steamrolled its way to wins of 18-0 and 20-4 over Southeast High, pushing the team’s record to 9-5 on the season.

The Wildcats have outscored their opponents by a combined 101-7 over the six-game winning streak.

Marmaton Valley took control immediately in the opener. The first 10 Wildcat batters reached base and scored in an 11-run first inning. A seven-run second inning capped the scoring.

Payton Scharff paced the offense with three singles. Aly Ard had a double and triple, while Kayla Ard had two singles. Mary Brown and Brooklyn Adams added one single each.

The Wildcats took advantage of 16 walks in the contest.

Kayla Ard pitched a three-inning no-hitter, allowing just one walk with six strikeouts.

The fun continued in the nightcap.

Aly Ard led the way against the Lancers by hitting for the cycle, with a single, double, triple and home run, while scoring four runs.

Marmaton Valley spread out its scoring with four in the first, two in the second, five in the third and fourth innings and four in the fifth.

Southeast dented the scoreboard with three in the third, but trailed 11-0 at the time.

Payton Scharff also blasted a home run in the victory. Gracie Yoho had a triple, Kendall Scharff and Kayla Ard both had doubles, while Bailey LaRue and Zoe Sneed each had singles.

The Lancers handed out 15 walks in the contest.

Marmaton Valley will play its final home games of the season Thursday against Uniontown. The regular season wraps up May 6 at Crest.
